PROPOSAL

The ScottishPower proposal is to replace the existing turbines with ten much larger 2.0MW turbines. Based on a 60 metre tower and an 80 metre rotor diameter, the new machines would have an overall height of 100 metres (328 feet).  This would be over twice the height of the current turbines which are only 49 metres (161feet) in height.

See how the proposed turbines would compare with the height of our village church. Even at a distance, these are giant turbines.

Below is a modified version of ScottishPower’s latest site map, showing where it proposes to locate the turbines.  The ScottishPower version of the map carefully omitted the villages of St Newlyn East and Mitchell so we’ve included them to show how this proposed development will affect us all.  The area of the wind farm will treble in size on to Newlyn Downs and adjacent farmland owned by Trewithen Estate.
